MINOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL

Na Fianna Minor Footballers made it a clean sweep of Final appearances for the club this year as they put the disappointment of missing out on a place in the A Quarter Final behind them by reaching the B Championship Final as they brushed aside the challenge of neighbours St Broughans in the Semi Final last Friday evening in Gracefield on a scoreline of 5-16 to 4-10. The sides opened the scoring with 2 points apiece before Na Fianna struck for the first goal on 8 mins when a cross from Shane Dolan was caught by James Lalor on the edge of the square and he blasted the ball to the net. Na Fianna then added a point before St Broughans registered 2 goals in a row, the second from a penalty midway through the half and they added 3 more points to Na Fianna’s 1 before Na Fianna got their 2nd green flag on 23 mins as a sideline ball from David Buckley was caught by Shane Dolan and he rounded the keeper to finish it to the net. St Broughans were moving well and they completed the half by adding another 4 points to Na Fianna’s 1 which gave St Broughans the lead at the break 2-08 to 2-06. Na Fianna edged ahead early in the second half as they sent over the first 3 points but St Broughans hit back with their 3rd goal on 6 mins but Na Fianna responded with the next 5 points followed by goal no 3 midway through the half to finally put some breathing space in it when David Buckley’s shot for a point dropped in front of the keeper and Shane Dolan scrambled it over the line to the net. 3  more points for Na Fianna and 1 for St Broughans followed before Na Fianna wrapped it up in the last 10 Mins with 2 more goals from Shane Dolan along with a point to 1-01 for St Broughans. Na Fianna will now meet either Rhode or St Rynaghs in the Final.
