Tullamore Show to feature on Irish TV special this Thursday 25th September

Highlights from the 2014 Tullamore Show will feature in a special hour-long programme on Ireland’s first international TV channel, Irish TV, this Thursday, September 25 at 9pm.

The show will air on Sky channel 191, Freesat 400, all free-to-air boxes, Eircom’s eVision 191 and online at www.irishtv.ie.

Presenters Alan Brereton and Susan Hughes will talk to many cattle breeders who travel from across Ireland to come to the show and meet the dedicated trainers from the competitive dog trials.

The show will also feature all the fashion and style from the Best Dressed Ladies competition.

“The Tullamore Show offers an eclectic mix of the expected and unexpected which attracts thousands of people to Tullamore year after year,” said Irish TV presenter Alan Brereton.

“Agriculture was originally the Show’s main focus but this has broadened considerably over the years to adapt to Ireland’s changing culture.

“However, the Tullamore Show still promotes an enhanced awareness and positive appreciation of our heritage, traditions and way of life.”

Alan and Susan also catch up with the organisers of the show and learn what it takes to put on a national event that attracts 50,000 people year after year.

“A lot of work went in to preparing for the show this year with over 600 volunteer stewards and 30 volunteers working on the committee to make the show happen,” said Tullamore Show PRO Christy Maye.

“We ran the first show here in Tullamore in 1991 and then moved to Charleville estate which was a major help to us in attracting the National Livestock Show which has grown the Tullamore Show into what you see today.”

The Tullamore Show was held on Sunday, August 10 in the Butterfield Estate, Blueball, Tullamore.
