Clara GAA Notes

Under 16 Football
Clara GAA Club would like to congratulate our under 16 footballers on a great win in the under 16 A Championship over Na Fianna on Saturday Morning. It ended our wait of 15 years for a win at this level and we are unbleieveably proud of this group of boys.
Clara started the match well and were 0-7 to 0-1 up after 20 minutes. Na Fianna were not going to lie down, however, and really got a foothold in the game from this point. Playing some excellent and attractive football Clara managed to maintain a healthy lead and led 0-8 to 0-3 at the break.
Na Fianna started the second half well and reduced the defecit to two points with about 15 minutes to go in the game. But a couple of goals gave Clara the cushion again and we ran out 2-12 to 0-10 winners on the day.

All-Ireland Hurling Final
The club would like to congratulate Brian Gavin and his team of umpires, Michael Gavin Snr, David Gavin, William Flynn and PJ Lawlor, on a great display of refereeing in Croke Park on Saturday evening. It’s rare these days that an Offaly man gets to ply his trade in Croke Park on All-Ireland Final day of late, but Brian impressed in what was his third All-Ireland Hurling Final.
Congratulations and well done.
