Na Fianna GAA Football Club Notes

U 14 FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Na Fianna U14 Footballers showed their determination and were almost rewarded with a great comeback but just fell short as they lost out to Edenderry in Rd 2 of the League last Monday week in Edenderry on a scoreline of 3-11 to 4-04. Na Fianna got off to the perfect start when after conceding the first point they got off the mark with a goal on 3 mins when Mikey Buckley gave a pass to full forward Lee Meally who finished it to the net. Then from the resultant kickout Na Fianna worked the ball straight back in where Lee Mulpeter was on hand to fire in goal no 2 and they added on 3 points over the next 5 mins which is how it remained until the final 10 mins when Edenderry came right back into it scoring 1-03 without reply and so at the break Na Fianna led 2-03 to 1-04. Na Fianna pointed a free early in the second half but from here on Edenderry took over for the next 25 mins as they scored 2-07 in a row to go 10 points in front and the game wrapped up but Na Fianna did not give up as they fought back by scoring 2 goals from Mikey Buckley in the final 2 mins and almost got a third but were just denied with a save and so Edenderry held on for the win.

MOUTH-GUARDS
A very important reminder to ALL players at all levels in the Club – From 1st Jan 2014 all players must wear a mouth-guard in all official training sessions and games. A players insurance is null and void if he fails to wear a guard. The club expect 100% compliance.
