Cloughjordan Celebrates Summer with Two Festivals Despite the Weather

Whatever the weather, Cloughjordan will be celebrating summer with not one but two festivals this year.

The Cloughjordan Festival, running from Wednesday, 26 June to Sunday, 30 June,  comprises five days of arts, music, food, sport, and family fun. 2013 is the seventh year of the Cloughjordan Festival, and there really is something for pretty much everyone. With art exhibitions, workshops in silversmithing, pottery, glass fusing, and painting; concerts; free kids’ sport camps; street games; local Tipperary food with Cloughjordan Community Farm and the Tipperary Food Long Table Dinner at Cloughjordan House; music, film, and street entertainment; a children’s parade and fundraising barbeque for Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin, the festival programme is packed with activity. Full details are available atcloughjordanfestival.org or by finding Cloughjordan Festival on Facebook. Look out for the colourful printed programme in shops throughout the area.

The following weekend, Friday, 5 July to Sunday, 7 July, as part of The Gathering, the Walks Group of the Cloughjordan Community Development Committee invites everyone to experience a different view of Irish history during the Cloughjordan: Walk It, Bike It, Like It! weekend. Under the guidance of archaeologist Caimin O’Brien and experienced,  enthusiastic local guides, you will visit castle and churches by bike and historical local areas of Cloughjordan on foot. Full details are available at www.cloughjordan.ie/wibili or by finding Walk It, Bike It, Like It! on Facebook.
