The early stages of the first half saw the sides match one another and after 20 mins Na Fianna were leading by 5 points to 3. Then in the final minute of the half Gracefield struck for 2 goals to turn it round before Na Fianna replied with a point and so at the break Gracefield led by 2-03 to 0-06. Then with just over 5 mins remainining Na Fianna finally broke clear first by dispatching their second goal when a kickout was worked straight back in through the middle where it came to Liam Langton in the square whop made no mistake as he buried his shot in the net and this was followed moments later by Na Fianna’s final 2 points. U16 FOOTBALL LEAGUE FINAL

Na Fianna U16 Footballers dissappointly missed out on capturing the first piece of silverware for the club this year when they were defeated by Ballinamere / Durrow in the League Final last Sunday afternoon in Durrrow on a scoreline of 2-10 to 1-08. The first half was a tight tense affair and at the break Na Fianna were just shading it by 5 points to 4 thanks to points from Kevin Kinahan (2), John Paul Casey, Cathal Curran & David Buckley. Both sides put over a free apiece early in the second half. In the 5th min Na Fianna pulled ahead dispatching their goal when Cathal Curran’s run in from the wing saw his shot saved but in the scramble that followed Kevin Kinahan was on hand to flick the ball to the net. B/D responded with 2 points beforetaking the lead in the 10th min when they were awarded a penalty which they struck to the net. Na Fianna hit back with 2 points to 1 for B/D. Then midway through the half a quick break upfield by B/D saw them get through to score their 2nd goal and they followed it up with another point moments later.
