Student Art Exhibition – St. Brendan’s Community School

Birr Theatre & Arts Centre is delighted to welcome back the young talent at Birr Community School for their annual exhibition.  This is a huge opportunity for artists of the future to experience the exhibition process.

Anam Beo

Anam Beo is an independent arts and health organization that delivers the Offaly Arts-in-Health Programme , supported by the HSE Dublin Mid-Leinster and Offaly County Council since 2005.  This exhibition showcases a variety of work created by talented participants at Birr Community Nursing Unit and runs in conjunction with Bealtaine Festival.  The exhibition will be launched on Wednesday 22 May and will run until 28 June.

Open Mon-Fri 1.00 – 5.30pm and during performances.

Midlands Movement Wave

An Alternative Space to Dance

For ages 16 – 100 years, this is an initiative, started in 2013 by Nick Bryson of Legitimate Bodies Dance Company, providing a general open space for dancing to allow for mindfulness in movement, a meeting point for anyone who enjoys moving, inspired by the moment and the eclectic soundtrack!

Are There More of You?

Written and Performed by Alison Skilbeck

A subtly funny, ironic and clever play about 4 middle-aged women on a journey of self-discovery, all dealing with their own pain and all unknowingly linked to each other.  Set on a minimalist stage, the four distinct monologues, astutely written and performed by Alison Skilbeck are delicately woven together drawing the audience into the inner world of each character, directly connecting with their separate emotional process.

Liam Lawton

Since he began composing and performing twenty years ago, Liam’s brand of sacred and inspirational music has become repertoire for choirs and individuals throughout the world and has been translated into many languages.  His music has been performed for many state occasions in Ireland, the UK and the USA.  His second book The Hope Prayer – a book of poetic reflections became a best seller in 2010/2011 and he was recently invited to perform at the International Eucharistic Congress held in Dublin, singing his own compositions.
