Campaign Against Household & Water Taxes (CAHWT) – Govt should reveal promoting home tax

“The government should disclose how much taxpayers’ money it has spent to try to persuade householders to pay the hated home tax”, said Ruth Coppinger of the CAHWT. “How much have they wasted on the first leaflet,  paid to a private company but not delivered? How much of our money have they spent on radio ads and billboards? How much will the latest insult cost of a letter to every door to try enforce an unwanted tax? “
“The minister, Phil Hogan, should immediately reveal how much the public bill will be for ramming through a tax which clearly has no mandate, at a time when hospitals and schools are being butchered.”
“It is now obvious that, rather than waste more public money, the attempts to foist this tax should be halted immediately and instead a wealth and assets tax on the super-rich 5% should be pursued with the same vigour in which ordinary people are now being pursued.”
