DIVISION 3 HURLING LEAGUE
Raheen Hurlers began their 2012 playing campaign with a defeat against Shamrocks in the Div 3 Hurling League last Saturday afternoon in Geashill on a scoreline of 4-11 to 0-11. Raheen who had just the bare 15 players were always up against it but they started brightly and after 20 mins were only a point down (0-04 to 0-03), then the concession of 3 goals before the break saw Shamrocks pull clear and so at half time Shamrocks led by 3-07 to 0-04 with Raheen’s last point being the pick of the game a fine strike by Dean Pierce from just inside the 65. In the second half Raheen managed to reduce deficit slightly with 6 pointed frees from Ciaran Direen along with a point apiece from Michael James Pierce and Keith Quinn as Shamrocks added 4 points but in the final minute the concession of the 4th goal brought Shamrocks lead back up to the same as it was at halftime.
RAHEEN: Ian O’Halloran, Craig O’Halloran, Paddy Arnold, Sean Martin Pierce, Aaron Pierce, Fionan Direen, Brian Corcoran, Brian Kennedy, Keith Quinn (0-01), Ciaran Direen (0-09), Michael James Pierce (0-01), Dean Pierce (0-01), Eana Direen, Eamon Direen, Martin Mahon.
