The unique OFFline Film Festival, supported by Offaly County Council, which runs from 12th – 16th October in Birr, Co Offaly is delighted to announce that the judges for the Short Film Making Competition have been finalized. We are delighted to announce that Paddy O’Connor member of the Galway Film Fleadh selection committee and director; Steven Goldsmith, scriptwriter and Gábor Böszörményi film producer, distributor and critic will be on the judging panel. With a prize fund of €4000 including a top prize of €1500 cash, free equipment rental, post production studio time and a guaranteed slot in the 2012 Galway Film Fleadh this is a prestigious competition and one that should not be missed.

This festival will host workshops by industry professionals such as Script writing with Steven Goldsmith, Producing a Low Budget Feature Film with Conor Barry and RED Camera Introduction with John Leahy. These professionals are present at the festival not only to present valuable workshops but also to act as mentors to the short filmmakers. But the help doesn’t end there; equipment, facilities, location and a volunteer database will be made available to participating teams.

If you want to be a part of this unique film festival and showcase your talent as a filmmaker, applications are available online at www.offlinefilmfestival.com . We are currently drawing up a database of actors who are available over the weekend to take part in some of the short films while gaining valuable experience as you work alongside experienced actors, directors and crew.

The OFFline film festival is not just a short filmmaking competition as there will be plenty to offer for film enthusiasts. There will be a variety of films screened at the festival, Catfish, The Quiet Man and Howl to name just a few, in venues around Birr including, for the first time in the Republic of Ireland, The Inflatable Cinema.
