Na Fianna GAA Club Notes

U16 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Na Fianna U16 Footballers lost out in a tight battle in their Championship encounter against Edenderry in Geashill last Monday week on a scoreline of 2-10 to 2-07. Na Fianna got off to a very bright start as they opened up an early lead of 1-02 to 0-01 after only 5 mins but then Edenderry got into it and over the next 20 mins they tagged on 6 points without reply to go in front but by half time Na Fianna had come back into it hitting over 3 points to Edenderry’s one which saw the sides go in at the break level 1-05 to 0-08. Na Fianna were undone inside the first minute of the second half as Edenderry got through to score 1-01. Na Fianna did hit back with a point but then in the 12th min Edenderry were awarded a penalty which they dispatched to the net and this proved to be the turning  point of the game. Na Fianna gave themselves hope midway through the half by scoring their second goal when a shot was parried by the keeper but followed up quickest by the Na Fianna man who blasted his shot to the net. Both sides then added just 1 more point apiece. Na Fianna never gave up and were unlucky with a number of late chances not to get an equalising goal.
