DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Raheen Intermediate Footballers who were without about 6 regulars saw this take it’s toll as they slumped to a defeat against Clara Seniors in Geashill last Wednesday evening on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-07 in their Div 1 League encounter. Clara were first off the mark with the opening 3 points before Raheen opened their account with a pointed free followed immediately by their goal when a pass in over the top put the Raheen forward in the clear on the edge of the square to run in and blast the ball to the net. Clara then added 5 points to which Raheen replied with 2 pointed frees before Clara got through to score their goal just approaching half time. This saw Clara lead at the break by 1-08 to 1-03. The early stages of the second half saw Raheen tag on 3 points to Clara’s 1 to cut the deficit back to 3 points. Unfortunately this was as close as Raheen could get as Clara wrapped up the win with their final 5 points with Raheen just managing 1 more point although Clara’s final 2 points only came in stoppage time.
