Ferbane/Doon/Shannonbridge U14 ladies football win their first county Féile.

F/D/S took on Tullamore in the 2011 Féile final on Wednesday last, March 30th, with the match taking place on a beautiful spring evening in Ballycumber. A place in the 2011 All-Ireland Féile in Cork in July representing Offaly was at stake and the girls of both clubs performed admirably and wholeheartedly in pursuit of this prize.
Tullamore won all the early exchanges and ran up a two-point lead very quickly playing into a breeze and up the hill. It took a while for the West Offaly girls to get a grip on things but when they did, they did so emphatically. A string of well taken goals left Ferbane/Doon/Shannonbridge 3-4 to 1-3 ahead by half time.
The West Offaly side started the second half as they finished the first and were quick to extend their lead in the opening stages of the second half. Tullamore never looked like getting back into the game from then on and spurned some good chances to cut the deficit, partially due to great defensive work from Ferbane/Doon/Shannonbridge. The girls in green eventually ran out convincing winners by 6-10 to 1-5 and they can now start preparing for Féile Corcaigh 2011, where they will be hosted by Kinsale.
